They don’t have to be used with them but when you do you get very good results. They will heat up faster and be better on your hair then average straighteners. I would recommend the whole Chi line including the straightener for long thick hair, the Chi line is made for hair like yours. They may cost a bit but I know they last long and I believe they come with warrenty so if they wreak they will replace them.Try this site… brands/chi_2.html?… Or I’d even suggest a local hair salon or ebay is a good place to get this stuff.

March 9th, 2010Question on Chi Hair Straightener?
If I buy a chi off of folica.com will I get a warranty on it or do I only get the warranty if I buy it from the store (ex: ULTA, Sephora…)? Another thing…. has anyone ever taken the chi out of the country. I know that it works in the United States and Canada but I'm going to Mexico for a couple weeks and I've seen warnings on websites about the voltage not being compatible with the chi if used outside of North America. Would this problem be solved if I just bought a converter for it or would I just not be able to use it outside of the U.S. and Canada? I don't want to risk damaging it.Any answers will be greatly appreciated

Is there another hair straightener that is better than the chi for straightening curly hair? |
| I've had my CHI for about 9 months now and have been really happy with it! But recently it has not been doing a great job at all. I've heard rumors about chi's shutting down after about a year, so I would like to get a new brand of straightener one that is better than the chi. I have RLY curly hair and I need a straightener tht can keep it straighted ALL day! If your hair is really thick, you may have to do it by layer (put your hair in a half ponytail and do the bottom layer first, then take it down and do the top layer). Then I think you just use your flat-iron as if it were a curling-iron, and just twist your hair around it, wait until your hair around the iron is hot, then gently take the iron out of the curl. It depends on the length, texture, and thickness of your hair on how long it will take.
